The ARCS Foundation and the BHSI

In the spring of 2000, former UGA Provost Karen Holbrook approached the ARCS Foundation's Atlanta chapter about the possibility of support for top graduate students at UGA, particularly those participating in the programs of University's Biomedical and Health Sciences Initiative. In consultation with the ARCS Foundation, the UGA Office of the Provost submitted materials in spring 2000 on behalf of the University of Georgia Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute, to the ARCS national organization to become a nominating institution for ARCS Scholars. Approval was granted by the national body of ARCS to provide support for UGA doctoral students in interdisciplinary biomedical and health sciences.
